What Casting Directors Look for in a Headshot
Your actor headshot is your first impression. Whether you are stepping onto the stage or in front of the camera, it should showcase your personality, versatility, and the energy you bring to every role. A great actor headshot is more than just a photo. It is the first step toward landing your next film, TV, or theatre role.
I provide professional actor headshots, focused on authentic connection. I have spent years refining this approach to capture genuine emotion and personality while keeping the focus on you and what makes you stand out. My sessions are designed to be professional, comfortable, and collaborative, helping you feel confident in front of the camera whether you are auditioning for film, television, or theatre.
Hi, I’m Katie Clarkson. Storytelling has been part of my life since I first stepped on stage at six years old. By my teens, I was mentoring young actors and directing small productions, which sparked a lifelong passion for helping performers grow in their craft. My work has taken me across the world, guiding actors to build confidence and refine their skills in both performance and filmmaking.
In 2018, I co-founded an acting studio, creating a space where actors could train for theatre and film. Over the years, I have taught everything from acting techniques to behind-the-scenes production, helping performers develop the tools they need to book roles and succeed in the industry.
Whether I am behind the camera or in the director’s chair, I understand what makes a performance stand out on screen, on stage, and in a headshot.
Every performance starts with a strong headshot that captures your energy, personality, and presence. Let’s create something that helps you stand out to casting directors and makes a lasting impression.

Headshot sessions should not feel stiff or stressful. My goal is to make the process feel easy, guided, and genuinely comfortable.
I guide you through the whole process, start to finish. I will tell you where to stand, when to move, and what to do next, so you never feel awkward or stuck. You do not need to worry about the technical stuff. That is my job. If you are curious about why I am adjusting a light or shifting something slightly, I am always happy to explain.
This is very much a team effort. Nothing is rigid or locked in. We talk things through, make small adjustments, and respond to what is working in the moment. Your input always matters, and we communicate throughout so decisions are made together as the session unfolds.
